Orto Farms
Our non-profit farm is much more than a green space. We farm hillsides in Northeast Los Angeles and generate an incredible amount of food while providing free education to the public. Our methods for accomplishing these goals remain our priority. Our farm employs agriculture practices that refrain from damaging the world and wasting water. We cultivate fast growing low water crops sheltered within shaded hoop-houses equipped with water recapture infrastructure. The crops we grow and infrastructure we installed remain extremely efficient in terms of water usage and will save us from relying on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. We believe in the importance of passing the knowledge, skills, and ideas associated with these farming practices to everyone. We currently post tutorials regarding small scale agriculture on our instagram and we plan to start a youtube channel for longer format education.
